At the age of 16, after taking a trip to Israel and seeing farm animals up close and personal for the first time, I made the choice to become vegetarian. But then two years later, I went to school at the College of Charleston in South Carolina and completely fell in love with food, abandoning my vegetarian diet. Food became a big part of my identity and I would use any excuse to go out to eat with friends, trying new foods and sharing food experiences. It wasn’t until moving back to Miami a few years later that I shocked my friends and family by going vegan after binge watching documentaries on Netflix spotlighting animal cruelty and the truth behind what we eat. I wanted to maintain living the life that I loved but doing it in a way that didn’t compromise my health, cause suffering to other beings, or destroy the planet. I began researching restaurants for every trip we took and realized just how diverse and extraordinary the vegan food scene was all over the country, which then inspired me to create @VeganTravelEats on Instagram. Vegan Travel Eats has allowed me to connect with people all over the world and prove that you can live an exciting life and enjoy incredible food in a more sustainable way.
