With locations in Miami, Santa Monica, Playa Vista, Venice and four more in the works, you could definitely say Tocaya Organica is killing it! Self-described as “Modern Organic Mexican,” Tocaya Organica’s menu is made up of tacos, bowls, salads, and burritos. Most items are vegan as they come, but diners have the option to add vegan or non-vegan proteins and cheeses, including vegan chipotle jack and chipotle tofu.
The Miami Beach location is on Lincoln Road, which is a pedestrian-only mile-long outdoor mall with shops and restaurants. As a Miami local I don’t think of Lincoln Road as a destination for fantastic food, but Tocaya Organica is changing that opinion for me!
We ordered guacamole to start with which had pomegranate and roasted pumpkin seeds sprinkled on top and was served with house-made plantain chips and an “Adios Felisha” off their cocktail list with tequila, basil, fresh blackberries and entire “maleta” (popsicle) inside!
With a warm tequila-infused smile on my face, we continued to order the breakfast burrito with tofu, chipotle sweet potato hash, black beans, and pico [left], and the Street Corn en Fuego bowl with jalapeño cabbage, diablo salsa, avocado, spanish rice, and vegan chipotle jack cheese [right]
The talented chefs at Tocaya even make their own corn taco shells every 2 hours, so you can be absolutely certain everything you will be eating is perfectly fresh. We tried a Baja Chipotle taco with shaved cabbage, sweet chipotle sauce, cilantro and chipotle crema with vegan housemade picadillo and vegan mozzarella added [left] and three Barrio Style tacos with tomatillo salsa, avocado, diced red onion and cilantro with tofu and vegan mozzarella added. We also threw in a side of black beans with vegan mozzarella on top for good measure.
Tocaya Organica has become one of my favorite spots here in Miami, (they even deliver through Postmates, but I recommend going there to get the full experience) it’s a great option if you’re in a group with non-vegans where everyone can have a fantastic meal. If you’re planning a trip to Miami make sure you include it on your itinerary!
